An unknown Class 52 "Western" arrives at Swindon with an express in November 1968.

The train is crossing from the Down Main towards platform 3. It looks like this picture was taken from the very London end of platform 1/3.

The rear of SN.248 is to the left of the loco, by the 15mph cut-out.

To the right of the train are two GPLs - SN.243 (left), which is on the Down Main, and was later replaced by SN.63 as part of the reversible schemes, and SN.245 (right), which survived in one form or another until 2011.

Behind the last visible carriage of the train is SN.28 on its original cantilever. This was later re-homed on a gantry in 1976 (ish), also as part of the reversible schemes.
